Jane Adams was a woman with plenty of heart. She changed America. In Chicago she’d start. For years of her life, she searched for what to do, a way to change the world, a brand new view. She studied and traveled all over the world, looking for a spark, an idea like a pearl. She found this place in a city called London, way out in Europe where people were bummin’. She saw a need for poor women and kids, for those less fortunate in cities that were big. She decided to move to Chicago, Illinois, and open up a house for people under-joyed.
She and a friend were women work horses, helping immigrants, the sick, and teaching night courses. They made speeches in neighborhoods, raising needed money. Hiring do-gooders to make lives sunny.
