Here’s the situation in the U.S.A. It was in the 1800’s way back in the day. Settlers traveled west.
They loved all the land. Native Americans lived there in tribal bands. The settlers thought they should live
there instead. They traveled by wagon; it was stuck in their head. They said, “This is ours!” Natives did not
agree. They were skeptical of Government and words like “treaty.” A treaty’s an agreement between two
groups, but the U.S. broke them often and the natives felt duped.
For example, Chief Joseph, a peace-loving dude, encountered General Howard acting crude and rude.
He said, to Chief Joseph, “You can’t live here!” It doesn’t matter that your people have been here for years.
I don’t really care that your dad was Chief before you.
